Grimaldia subpilosa (Mannia subpilosa) from Taiwan proved to be identical with Cryptomitrium tenerum. Supplemental information on the morphology and taxonomy is provided on the basis of the Taiwanese plants. Regional differences of spore size in C. tenerum are illustrated using SEM images from Taiwanese, American, and Indian plants.

Porotrichum saotomense Enroth & Shevock (Neckeraceae) is described as a new species from the Republic of São Tomé & Príncipe. It is morphologically closest to P. quintasii Broth., differing primarily in the non-complanate and nearly symmetric leaves, much stronger, spinose costa, longer seta and longer exostome teeth and endostome processes. Other additions to the moss flora of São Tomé & Príncipe are Homaliodendron piniforme (Brid.) Enroth, Calyptothecium acutifolium (Brid.) Broth. var. breviusculum (Müll. Hal.) Argent, and Symphyodon pygmaeus (Broth.) S. He & Snider. Neckeropsis disticha (Hedw.) Kindb. is new to the island of São Tomé.

Treatment with sodium hypochlorite, as commercial bleach product, 20 % diluted in distilled water, allows restoring the form and the structure in cells and tissues from very damage and collapsed herbarium specimens of delicate liverworts. Additionally, the technique allows the cell clearing or bleaching of the samples, facilitating the observation and the microphotography with microscopes of transmitted light.

A checklist of mosses collected from Mount Lumaku is presented. In total, there are 127 species, two varieties and one subspecies in 63 genera and 27 families of mosses recorded from this mountain, representing ca. 18 % of the reported taxa of mosses in Borneo. The largest family was Sematophyllaceae with 18 species and one variety, followed by Calymperaceae with 12 species and Dicranaceae with 11 species. Macromitrium salakanum Müll.Hal. is a new addition to the Borneon moss flora, while Distichophyllum santosii E.B.Bartram and Mitthyridium constrictum Sull. (H.Rob.) are new records for Sabah.

Based on collections made in February 2011 in Hawaii, some species are reported as new to Oahu, Maui or Big Island, Brachymenium acuminatum Harv. in Hook. and Campylopus flexuosus (Hedw.) Brid. are reported as new to the archipelago, and Breutelia griffinii J.-P. Frahm is described as a new species. An evaluation of the phytogeographical elements of the moss flora of Hawaii has been undertaken. Most of the mosses from Hawaii are endemic (29.4 %) or SE-Asian (27.2 %), 17.7 % are Holarctic and 10.8 % are cosmopolitan. Pantropical, Neotropical, African, Austral, European, Oceanian and E-Asian species count each for less than 5 %. There are in part significant differences in the composition of floristic elements between the islands, especially Big Island and the rest of the islands.

As part of the Gorgona Island Natural National Park Scientific Expedition, an inventory of lichens was carried out. 83 lichen species, included in 34 genera and 14 families, were found. All of the reported species are registered for the first time for the Gorgona Island Natural National Park; 31 species are registered for the first time for Colombia and 61 for Cauca. The genus Eugeniella is registered for the first time for Colombia. The genera with the most number of species were Pyrenula (7 species), Tricharia (6), Strigula, Herpothallon (6) and Graphis (5), whereas 24 genera were represented by only one or two species. The Families Gomphillaceae and Graphidaceae were the best represented with 18 and 17 species respectively. 53% of species were corticolous, 45% were foliicolous and 3% were saxicolous. The majority of corticolous lichen species were found in the road leading to Mirador (14 species). The vast majority of lichens (93%) presented crustase thallus, whereas foliose, gelatinous and filamentous forms where least abundant (4, 3 and 1% respectively). Neither fruticose nor dimorphic thallus lichens were found. Ampliotrema amplius(Nyl.) Kalb, which is frequent in primary or less disturbed forests was found.
